America is the first country record 10 million cases of Covid-19
The United States has become the first country in the world to exceed 10 million cases of Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic. According to a Reuters count on Sunday, as the third wave of Covid-19 swept across the country.
This development came on the same day that the number of Coronavirus cases worldwide exceeded 50 million.
The United States has also recorded about a million infections in the past ten days, at the highest rate since the country recorded the first case of the emerging coronavirus in Washington state 293 days ago.
The Reuters statistics stated that the United States recorded a record number of Covid-19 cases, which reached 131,420 on Saturday, and recorded more than 100,000 cases four times during the past seven days.
More than 237,000 Americans have died from Covid-19 since the disease caused by the Coronavirus first appeared in China late last year.
A Reuters analysis indicates that the recorded deaths in the United States rose by more than 1,000 for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday, a trend last seen in mid-August.
Also, health experts say that an increase in deaths is expected within four to six weeks after the increase in cases.
On Saturday, US President-elect Joe Biden pledged to make addressing the pandemic one of his most important priorities and to move urgently to find a safe and effective vaccine against Covid 19.
